The UFC champion Kamaru Usman is one of the most impressive fighters to ever be a part of the promotion. Ever since his debut in 2014, he’s demolished every single opponent that the UFC put in the octagon with him. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is simply miles apart from any competition right now. After his sensational performance at UFC 268, Usman has established himself as the best fighter in the welterweight division. He also stands at first place in the UFC men’s pound for pound ranking.
Kamaru faced Colby Covington for the second time in his career at UFC 268. The first fight they had was a pretty close one. Colby gave Usman a run for his money, but then got knocked out in the last round of the fight. After that, Covington trash-talked Usman for two years till they met again in the octagon at UFC 268. This time around, Usman was far ahead of him in every aspect of the fight and won, once again following a unanimous decision from the officials.
After his spectacular win and title defense, Kamaru Usman revealed in his press conference on what he wants to do next.
The welterweight champion said, “You know my daughter’s seven years old. She don’t give a sh*t if daddy has 20 million dollars stacked up. You know when she’s 18 and what she’s going to say is, where were you, you know. And god forbid something ever happens to her. She’s going to ask me, where were you? You know she’s not going to give a shit if daddy can pay for her to do this and this and that.”
“So you got to weigh it out and right now those are the important things to me.”

What’s next for Kamaru Usman?
After proving his superiority in the octagon countless times, Kamaru Usman isn’t scared of facing any opponent in the octagon. There has been nobody in the UFC that can match his skill level. For his next match, the Nigerian said that he’s up for a challenge.
Many suspect that Leon Edwards may be next in line for a title shot against the champion. If Edwards manages to defeat Jorge Masvidal, he might face Usman in the octagon next. Right now, he’s on a winning streak of nine-fight and seems to be the most deserving. He currently stands third in the UFC’s welterweight contender rankings, just before Gilbert Burns and Covington. Usman has already fought both fighters recently, so Leon is most likely to face the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’.
