Recently, Truck driver Hailie Deegan appeared on the ‘I AM NASCAR’ podcast with Brandon Marshall. The David Gilliland Racing driver spoke on a variety of subjects. They ranged from being a racing driver to her YouTube channel and many more. Another massive question referred to the subject of her being the daughter of Motorcross legend Brian Deegan.
Speaking about her father, Deegan said, “When he was truly the Villain. That was his role and he embraced it and he made such a successful career off of it. Being kind of like, just the bad guy. I feel like he did so well with that, embracing it and making it a true show. Just showing people, ‘Hey! This is who I am. Either you like me or you don’t’. That’s what I truly liked about him. Watching him, growing up, being successful with that, it was just inspiring.”
What else did Hailie Deegan say?
According to her, he would often get up early in the morning to go for runs and work out. Naturally, she liked seeing that as well and decided to follow that lifestyle.
Since then, she has never looked back and has no regrets about her career choices. The 20-year-old has just wrapped up her maiden season in the Truck Series, finishing in 17th place in the championship.
During the course of the season, Hailie Deegan enjoyed nine Top 20 finishes. This also included a career-best finish of 7th place, which she was delighted with.
That came at the World Wide Technology Raceway in Gateway. To make matters even better, she finished ahead of her teammate Tanner Gray, with a healthy 37-point gap to him. Now, Deegan will be aiming to come back in 2022 with David Gilliland Racing and will be hoping to improve on her form.
