“Select It. Right-click. Delete” – Lando Norris Wants F1 to Abolish Controversial Rule After Verstappen-Hamilton Drama in Saudi Arabia

Lando Norris wasn’t a happy man after the race in Saudi Arabia. The McLaren driver felt hard-done-by because of a safety car induced pit stop spree, which he felt directly resulted in him having a poor result.

Norris, who started in P7, finished in tenth place.

Speaking in the post-race interview, he expressed his frustration with the rule allowing drivers to flock into the pits whenever there’s a safety car. The Briton, who is usually smiling, tried really hard to hide his frustration behind the smile.

But his words, and what he said essentially, despite a smile, gave it all away. As the interviewer suggested that there could be a discussion on the matter, Norris said, “Too many discussions, we need to change it.”

“They should give me access to the rulebook, the official PDF. I press edit, and I just erase it. Select it, right-click, delete.”

Only if changing rules in F1 was that easy, and yes, this was a cruel result for Norris. But, there’s one positive for McLaren in this result.

And that is the fact that both their drivers finished in points after a points drought in the last three races.

Lando Norris is frustrated, but he should also be a little relieved

In the battle of the third place in the constructor’s championship, it seemed as though Ferrari were pulling clear. And the Italian team have indeed pulled clear. But the result in Saudi Arabia gives McLaren somewhat of a fighting chance in Abu Dhabi.

In the last three races, McLaren had only scored a mere four points in Qatar, Brazil and Mexico combined. All four of those points came from the finishes of Lando Norris.

So, heading into Abu Dhabi. McLaren’s fate as third-place finishers in the championship still is in their hands. They still can change how the championship looks at this moment.

But one thing which they cannot change (at least for now), is the rule books, no matter how much Lando Norris wants.
