Although his spell at Manchester United was not up to the mark, the talented coach is now in charge of the Dutch soccer team and aims to qualify for the Qatar World Cup next year.
However, falling victim to an unfortunate cycling accident, the manager suffered some injuries and was forced to attend the press conference via a video call. On a lighter note though, at the cost of his gaffer, this prompted a little smile from Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

Virgil van Dijk tries hard not to laugh
Adding to his misery, the Netherlands manager was forced to attend the press conference via a video call, as his wheelchair would not fit through the doors of the room. Regardless, a charismatic personality with a great sense of humor, Van Gaal, addressed the situation and provided an update on his health in the best way possible.
“I have a clean brain. So I can think and I’m always positive, so you don’t have to report that,” said Van Gaal.

Notably, the cameras present caught the Liverpool defender, present live at the conference, struggling not to laugh. However, he later opened up about the incident and mentioned it was “definitely a shock.”
“We are happy that he can lead us and it hasn’t impacted much in terms of the preparation. This morning he chaired an important meeting and still guides us. Van Gaal is still keen to make it to the World Cup,” said Van Dijk.
On the business end of things, the Netherlands currently have a job on their hands.

A crucial match against Norway
With Portugal and Italy failing to attain automatic qualification, the Netherlands would certainly hope not to follow them to the playoffs and get the job done beforehand. As it stands, they lead the table with 20 points but are closely followed by Norway and Turkey, who have 18 points each. Thus, it would be important that the team perform well in order to qualify for the World Cup.
