Jin Young Ko is on fire. The 26-year-old has taken the world by an absolute storm and we can say this – we saw it coming.
Ever since her appearance on the LPGA tour in 2018, she has played with an air of dominance, with a certain consistency in her game. Since then, the former LPGA of Korea Tour player has bagged 11 titles. Moreover, she boasts of two major wins, both coming in 2018.
Her consistency is something to be truly appreciated. In the last seven appearances, she has a bewildering 4 wins! She finished on top of the leaderboard at the BMW Ladies Championship, the Founders Cup, the Portland Classic, and the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout.
At the BMW Ladies Championship win last week, she regained her world number 1 rank on the Rolex World Rankings. This win also recorded the 200th victory by a South Korean on the LPGA tour. In addition, along with her win at the Founders Cup, she tied Annika Sörenstam’s 16-year-old record for 14-consecutive rounds that scored in the 60’s.

How Jin Young Ko has dominated women’s golf
On her maiden season on the LPGA tour, Ko achieved 13 top-10 finishes from 25 starts. She was named the LPGA Rookie of the Year and also finished her season ranked 10th in the world.
In 2019, she won the ANA Inspiration and the Evian Championship and bagged her first two major titles. She finished the season with the Vare Trophy (for the lowest scoring average at 69.06) and was also named the LPGA Player of the Year. Due to the covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Ko played only four tournaments. Nevertheless, she ended the year as the World No. 1.
Meanwhile, Nelly Korda of the USA will provide stiff competition to Ko for the Player of the Year award. Nonetheless, the latter has scripted her name in history and has established her supremacy in world golf. If she were to continue like this, she will break a lot of records in women’s golf, something we look forward to witnessing.
