Who Did Canelo Alvarez Draw Against?

Canelo Alvarez is arguably the biggest prizefighter in boxing as of now, and the Mexican king does not look to be slowing down anytime soon. He has won seven of his last fights as he looks to make history again this year.

Canelo looks to become the only Mexican fighter to become ‘Undisputed’ champion in the four-belt era. He will take on the IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant. The pair will enter the ring on November 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

So ahead of this record-breaking fight, let’s take a look at the fighters that gave Canelo the most trouble.

Who has Canelo Alvarez had a draw with?

Canelo has lost only once in his career when he entered the ring as a young underdog against arguably the greatest fighter of our generation, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. Other than this lone loss, Canelo has a near-perfect record, 59 fights, 56 wins, one loss, and two draws.

The two draws Alvarez on his record came at very different times in his professional career. His first draw came in just his fifth career fight against Jorge Juarez. He fought Juarez in a four-round fight back on June 20, 2006, and they fought at welterweight.

His second career draw came at a much later stage in his career and against a high-profile opponent. Canelo fought Gennady ‘GGG (Triple G)’ Golovkin in 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Both fighters put on a thrilling display in their highly awaited bout.

Although he never fought Juarez again, Canelo took on Triple G the very next year and beat him by unanimous decision.

What titles does Canelo have?

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez made his intentions very clear in 2020. The Mexican looked to unify the Super Middleweights belts. A year after his proclamation, he fought Billy Joe Saunders in May, earlier this year, and unified the super-middleweight titles. After beating Saunders, Alvarez currently holds the WBA, WBC, WBO, and The Ring super-middleweight titles.

Alvarez currently rules the roost at super-middleweight. However, he has also been a recognized world champion at middleweight, light-middleweight/super-welterweight, and light-heavyweight. The WBO super-middleweight title he acquired on 8th May was the 15th world boxing championship of the Mexican’s career so far.

Canelo is now on the quest to make history as he looks to become the world’s first ‘undisputed’ super-middleweight champion. He faces Caleb Plant for the only belt he does not hold at super-middleweight, the IBF belt.
