NBA is finally back after more than two more months as the pre-season begins with a matchup between perhaps the two favorites, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets. Both the teams did battle it out against each other last season but it wasn’t without their fair share of injuries.
Given how different the teams are looking right now after all the off-season moves, the hype surrounding the matchup has been insane. The teams’ immense popularity is also a big factor in pulling in many viewers and perhaps the perfect way to begin pre-season.

Lakers’ Anthony Davis opens the game with a 3-point play
The pre-season game might not feature LeBron James and Russell Westbrook or even the Nets’ big three. But one superstar is still involved in the matchup, Anthony Davis. AD, who suffered from a groin injury in the playoffs has certainly put in the work in the off-season.
Eager to test himself, Davis has started the game for the Lakers. ‘The Brow’ certainly started off the game with a bang. In the very first offensive possession, the Lakers devised a play including Davis and new point guard Kendrick Nunn.

While Nunn took up the ball, he passed it up to AD who was guarded by veteran Paul Millsap. But Millsap’s experience was to no avail as Davis bullied his way near the basket and laid up the ball with ease. Not only that, he was also pushed and got a free throw.
‘The Brow’ buried it and completed a three-point play in the process. While the Lakers started off with a banger like this, their offense looked shaky for a while since then. Falling to a 13-0 run by the Nets, AD and co. looked a bit flustered.

But they have eventually made a comeback with the likes of Talen-Horton Tucker and DeAndre Jordan stepping in. Eventually the Lakers have cut down the lead to just six points with a scoreline of 25-19 at the end of the first half.
This pre-season game can certainly be key for Frank Vogel to see how his new team adjusts to his system. Given that they six games in the pre-season, expect to see a more cohesive team at the end of pre-season.
