In 2022, the NASCAR Next Gen cars will make their official debut. Now, Toyota has got some big plans, for the coming season, for their new Camry. In a presentation, Toyota’s Executive Engineer Technical Director Andy Graves spoke about the manufacturer’s plans. He also gave a walkthrough of what is new in the 2022 NASCAR Next Gen car.
He said, “When fans tune into the 2022 season, they are going to hear a noticeable change in tone of the Next Gen Camry TRD. On the Camry TRD Next Gen vehicle, the exhaust is split out both sides. The symmetry of the body has allowed us to split the exhaust well. Whereas on the Gen 6, both exhaust pipes come out of the right side.”

According to him, the exhaust split looks more appealing on the left and the right side of the car. Furthermore, it also changes the tone of the car. Graves revealed that the new sound is much more throaty and cooler. In addition to that, there are two identical insulation pipes and Toyota Racing is keen to give its drivers an edge.
What to expect from the NASCAR Next Gen car
Without a doubt, many of the drivers are excited to see the cars in action next year. Admittedly, some of them have their doubts, but the sport has worked extremely hard on these cars. Many drivers have tested the cars and provided valuable inputs to iron out issues or improve the cars as well.
Since last year, there have been multiple tests, focusing on a variety of aspects of the new cars. So far, things have been fairly positive, but there have been a couple of dissenters. For example, Denny Hamlin is concerned that the new cars could be more susceptible to crashes. In addition to that, he is worried that the car could heat up very easily.
