Lando Norris came super close to winning his first race in Formula One at the Russian GP. The McLaren driver started the race from pole position and led almost every lap in the race. It did not faze him when he came under pressure from a charging Lewis Hamilton during the last laps.
But when the conditions changed, he made a bold but risky decision to stay out on slicks. The decision proved costly as the rain intensified and he could not control his car and lost the race in the rain. After the race, he mentioned he would learn from his mistake in the future.

I can do better next time if we find ourselves in the same situation: Lando Norris
As reported by Soymotor, the young Brit was distraught after the race but vowed to never repeat his mistake again. He stated he would do better next time if he found himself in the same situation.
“I have learned many things such as what I can do better next time if we find ourselves in the same situation and how I can make better decisions,” said Lando.
When asked how he has spent his time after his disappointment, Norris stated, “We spent two days in the simulator and one day reviewing everything regarding communication and how we talk to each other to do a better job next time.”

The McLaren driver still stands by his decision
Lando Norris mentions that he still stands by his decision to stay out on slicks. He stated that the decision was not so simple as it might have looked on the television.
“It’s complicated. When you see it on television, it seems simple, and it seems like the easiest decision in the world. Sometimes, you think you can make an easy decision, but in reality, it is not that simple. A lot of things have to happen to make the right decision.” said the McLaren driver.
Norris is still fourth in the championship with 139 points, and he is just 12 points behind Bottas, who’s in third.
