Cristiano Ronaldo Broke This Big Manchester United Record With Late Goal vs Villareal

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to have ever stepped on a football field. However, even at 36, he maintains an unreal physique. For more than a decade now, the Portuguese international has consistently competed at the top level.

Every game Cristiano plays, he revamps history books with his performance. Notably, he did exactly that earlier this week. Ronaldo scored a 95th-minute winner to ensure victory for the Red Devils in the UEFA Champions League.

Ronaldo strikes Manchester United’s winner in the 95th minute

Paco Alcacer’s superb finish in the 53rd minute put the visitors ahead at Old Trafford. However, the Reds drew level seven minutes later when left-back Alex Telles scored an excellent volley on his United debut. For the next half an hour, the game appeared to be heading for a draw. Ronaldo’s late intervention, however, claimed a win from the jaws of defeat.

Starting the move, Fred whipped in a delightful cross from the left wing to Ronaldo, who did a one-two with Jesse Lingard inside the box. He then finished it off himself from an acute angle, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Cristiano Ronaldo scores the latest goal ever for Manchester United in the UCL

While Ronaldo’s late goal ensured the team’s victory, the Portuguese broke records on a personal front as well. This goal by Ronaldo in the 95th minute is the latest goal scored by a Manchester United player in the history of the Champions League.

The previous record-holder of this achievement was Ronaldo’s current manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Ole established his record 22 years ago in 1999. However, the Norwegian’s contribution was more significant, as his 93rd-minute goal against Bayern Munich secured the Champions League for Man United back then.
