Last weekend, Bubba Wallace snatched his maiden Cup Series win at the Talladega Superspeedway. However, the circumstances behind the win were a little bit underwhelming. To be precise, the race was called off early, because of poor weather conditions. Around that time, Wallace was just at the right place at the right time. In light of this, some critics suggested that the win was undeserved. However, Denny Hamlin staunchly defended his driver.
He said, “People just really need to grow up. It’s just so bad that they’re just going to find, when they don’t like something. For whatever reason, that’s just the way it is. If they’re not going to like it, it doesn’t matter whether you paint the picture just how they want it. It’s still not going to be good enough.”
According to Hamlin, it is very difficult to get people to change their minds. He acknowledged that when something different takes place, many have a tendency to resist it. So the trick is to find one’s own source of motivation, namely from the people who support them.

He continued, “That’s kind of the feeling, in which I talked to Bubba before the season started. Try not to use haters as fuel. Forget them, you’re never going to make them happy. If you think performance will change haters’ ideas, just go look at my timeline. You would think I’m the worst driver in the series, if you looked at some of my comments.”
At the end of the day, it is a matter of making those fans proud, instead of proving a hater wrong. One thing is for sure, whether the race ended prematurely or not, Bubba Wallace definitely deserved the win. This is because he worked hard for it and clawed his way up the order, dodging wrecks and using clever strategy.
