Classy Jimmie Johnson Lauds Bubba Wallace, Michael Jordan & Denny Hamlin After Talladega Heroics

On the back of Bubba Wallace’s famous victory at Talladega, many offered their congratulations. Among them was NASCAR living legend, Jimmie Johnson. The current IndyCar driver acknowledged that the win was big for Bubba Wallace and the 23XI Racing team. In addition to that, he was truly happy for the African-American star.

He said, “I think it’s a massive win. I’m super happy for MJ, Denny, the commitment that they made to join the sport. Reading from afar, their expansion program and just how committed they are to have a top-notch program is super cool to see for NASCAR and for motorsport. Then for Bubba to come back to Talladega, the track where so much took place, to win the race, I’m just personally very happy for him and proud of him.

“You know, I think that first one gives the driver a lot of confidence, helps you calm down in a lot of areas, and I think Bubba will be in a sweet spot and performing really well moving forward.

What next for Bubba Wallace after this Talladega win?

Without a doubt, this would have boosted the driver’s confidence. In addition to that, it was a fantastic early birthday present for the driver, who has just turned 28. It is worth mentioning that the team was targeting a few wins in the 2021 season, and they have finally hit the ground running.

Although it may be a stretch to expect more wins this season, it has set a foundation for the outfit. Additionally, Bubba Wallace himself will be eager to build on his maiden triumph and get stronger. Next year, he will have an experienced head alongside him, in the form of 2004 Cup Series champion, Kurt Busch. Together, the two of them should be able to develop the 23XI Racing car in leaps and bounds.

Meanwhile, Jimmie Johnson is gearing up for his second season in the IndyCar series. He made his debut earlier this year, competing only in road course races. Next year will probably see him do the same thing, though he expressed interest in competing in the Indianapolis 500.
