Earlier, 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace completed the biggest race of his career. To be precise, he went on to snatch his first career win and it came at the Talladega Superspeedway. When he visited Victory Lane, he just had to share the Kodak moment with his dog, Asher.
The African-American driver was utterly thrilled to win, especially since it was on home soil. Without a doubt, Wallace had a lot to smile about as he navigated his way through plenty of chaos. With rain in the air, there was always a huge chance that the race could be stopped. So it was a matter of hitting the front of the pack at the right time.
How did Bubba Wallace win the race?
When the race kicked off, there was a threat of rain, so all eyes were turned skywards. Eventually, the heavens did open, and the rain eventually forced the officials to cut the race short. By then, Wallace had wormed his way into the race lead, so the officials called off the race, he was perfectly positioned.
Although it was an anticlimactic end, it did not take away from the #23 driver’s prowess. So he had every reason to celebrate, especially since it was a race full of mayhem. The race was all the more frantic, considering that the YellaWood 500 was postponed. Sadly, the rain gods had other ideas and wreaked havoc after the first stage.
Things started slowly with a sprinkle, and it soon escalated into a downpour at the Talladega Superspeedway. Owing to that, the drivers and teams have to really put on their thinking caps. In other words, they have to brainstorm strategies to put themselves in favorable positions. Evidently, Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing hit the jackpot when they rolled the dice.
After an hour-long wait, the officials decided that conditions were too dangerous and declared the results. It is also worth noting that not only is it his first Cup Series win, but he is the second African-American winner since Wendell Scott.
