History was created last week in New York. An 18-year-old kid who came as a qualifier won the US Open when it was least expected. Emma Raducanu shook tennis fans around the globe with her stellar performance.
The British sensation did not even lose a set in the ten rounds she played in the tournament. Emma has dedicated her life to tennis and recently a video shows an 11-year-old Raducanu talking about her wishes to win a Grand Slam one day. She can look back on that knowing that she’s already achieved it.
The video shows a young Emma when she played a tournament and won the runners-up title back in 2014. She was asked that her fellow British player Andy Murray has won the Wimbledon and the US open, does she dream to be a Grand slam champion? To which she replied, “Yeah I know it’s really hard work. Hopefully if I work on my game and pull it together then maybe it will happen one day”.
Emma Raducanu to dominate the tennis world?
Emma has worked extremely hard to reach the level she is at today. Winning a Grand Slam at 18 years of age is an astonishing achievement and she’s the youngest to do it since Sharapova in 2004.
The British player has produced some stellar performance and shows that she means business. Furthermore, Emma Raducanu began the year ranked No. 345 in the world. When the U.S. Open began, she was ranked 150th. Now after going from qualifier to U.S. Open champion, the 18-year-old Brit is ranked No. 23 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association rankings released on Monday.
Emma was seen last at the Met Gala where many of the Tennis legends had also arrived to grace the carpet. She looks like she has a long career and many more Grand Slams ahead of her.
