‘I Only Had 5 Hours of Sleep’- Paddy Pimblett Details Tough Conditions Before His UFC Debut

Paddy Pimblett says he was facing rough conditions before his first fight in the UFC. However, the 26-year-old lived up to his promise and could finish the fight in the first round.

The British fighter faced the Brazilian Luigi Vendramini in his debut fight in the UFC. ‘The Baddy’ delivered a stunning performance and secured a first-round finish.

The lightweight fighter created a lot of hype before the fight. However, while describing his pre-fight scenario, Pimblett said he faced a lack of sleep because of traveling. He slept only for a few hours before the event.

In the post-fight interview, Pimblett said, “I was traveling for 29 hours on Tuesday. Got like two hours of sleep on the flight. I have only been having about five hours of sleep at night.”

He added, “This is what I was put on this earth to do lad; to entertain people and beat people. And it’s what I do. I only had five hours of sleep last night; doesn’t mean nothing to me. I was always coming in here and getting a first-round finish. I said it from the get-go and I delivered. You know what I mean lad I delivered send Luigi packing back to be a delivery boy in Brazil.”

No matter how worst the conditions were, it didn’t stop the former cage warrior champion from delivering an impressive performance in his debut fight in the promotion.

Many people believe he has the potential of becoming the next big thing in UFC. Pimblett himself thinks he can be the next fan-favorite.

The (17-3) record holder impressed the combat fans with his stunning performance. He scored a first-round knockout win in his debut match at UFC. In the post-fight interview, the 26-year-old said people are going to love watching him fight and believes he is the next star of UFC.

Pimblett said, “Goosebumps, proper goosebumps, yeah. You know what I mean when my songs come on, that’s another one. There’s not many feelings on this earth, like the feeling I have when that song comes on. And I start clapping my hands together and the drops into my heads will roll like. Especially there were actually some fans there screaming my name going bananas.”

He added, “I’d wait until we go to an arena and like even in England or anywhere in the UK. But even in Australia or a stadium in America, everyone will be screaming my name. Whether I’m fighting an American or Australian like I’m infectious, you know what I mean. I am very polarizing. Some people love me, some people hate me, but you’re gonna watch me fight… On Monday morning there’s gonna be loads of kids in MMA gyms that would’ve never have went if it wasn’t for me. And that fills me with pride.”

‘The Baddy’ feels confident about his career in the UFC. However, the new prospect has proved himself in his first match. But there is still a lot more to come. And if the British fighter can keep his column green for more time in the future, he will surely register his name in one of the best in the lightweight roster.
