Anthony Davis is arguably one of the best forwards in the game right now. With a 6’11” frame, Davis has shown the world that he is a two-way beast. Be it shooting the three ball, dunking or blocking the shot, AD can do it all.
His talent though was visible a longtime ago. Ever since he made an appearance with the Kentucky Wildcats, Davis became a household name. Given how dominant he was, AD looked like a man among boys.

Richard Jefferson picks Anthony Davis over Zion Williamson
While the NBA is the league where you see the star players, it is truly the NCAA championships and college basketball where these stars are made. This was certainly the case with the likes of AD. Just like Davis, Zion Williamson also made for himself with the Wildcats.
With an incredible physique and his ability to put up thunderous dunks, Williamson was seen a monster in college basketball. But former NBA champion Richard Jefferson tends to disagree to the same. In a recent appearance at the Old Trippin podcast, Jefferson claimed that it was Davis who was the last monster in college basketball.
“Anthony Davis was a f**king monster. He was literally the last monster we saw in college. I know like Zion was like this, but like Anthony Davis, you are watching him like, ‘This dude might win the MVP like in his second year.'”
RJ continued, “He looked that good as a freshman. You were like, ‘God he’s 6 11, look at that length, dunk, played USA basketball and won a gold medal, hadn’t even played an NBA game yet.”
Jefferson certainly raises a great point here, While Zion’s arrival was filled with hype and aspirations, Davis in his own tight was an anticipating number one pick. In his only season in college, ‘the Brow‘ was clearly the standout player in a stacked Kentucky roster.
With elite shot blocking combined with skilled scoring, Davis easily stood out and dominated his competition leading his side to a NCAA championship. Even though he hadn’t played a single game in the NBA, he did represent team USA in the Olympics alongside some of the biggest names in the NBA. Till date Davis is the last college player to do so.
