19 rounds against Tyson Fury discolored the casual fan’s perception of Deontay Wilder. Most associate ‘The Bronze Bomber’ with his split draw, subsequent loss, glove tampering, and spiked-water claims.
However, most forget that he has an impressive 44-fight resume and is even a former WBC heavyweight champion. Over the years, he has won 42 of those fights, 1 draw, and a single career loss against Tyson Fury.
As he prepares for the third leg of his long-time rivalry against the current WBC champ, Deontay Wilder believes he has nothing to prove to anyone.
He shared that he doesn’t care much about things that are not under his direct control.
“I don’t have anything to prove to anybody. All of my career in boxing, people have always doubted me and I’ve always proved them wrong. I don’t stress over things that I can’t control,” said Wilder.
Wilder added that he does not expect his usual doubters to change their opinion about him even if he wins on October 9.
The Alabama native is now looking to regain his WBC title. He also highlighted that he is the best heavyweight of all time and that he can’t wait to show it to the world.
“This is a trilogy, we are getting what was contracted and signed. I just want to follow through with it and get back what is mine.
“You are looking at the best heavyweight in all the generations and everyone will witness it again on October 9. I can’t wait to show it,” added Deontay Wilder.

It took Deontay Wilder two fights to realize that Tyson Fury knew ways around his ‘big right hand’ approach. After his first career loss against ‘The Gypsy King’ last year, Wilder went off the grid for a while. Most assumed he was avoiding the media to duck questions regarding his loss. However, the truth is far from that.
On the night of his loss on February 22, 2020, the first thing he did was lay off Mark Breland. The very same night, he contacted his confidante, friend, former opponent, and coach Malik Scott. He asked him to come on board right away.
Since then, Deontay Wilder has not stopped training. He has been working in silence and now has his eyes set on winning back everything he lost on that night.
It is obvious from the recent training videos that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is working on new moves and a completely fresh in-ring approach.
He can be seen doubling down on body shots in certain pad-work clips and seems more active on his feet in and out of the pocket. He has also shown significant improvements in his head movement.
