According to rumors, Sony is planning to host a grand State of Play showcase very soon for PlayStation titles. Roberto Serrano, a well know business analyst, had tweeted in July that Sony might hold a grand State of Play event on 12 August 2021, much ahead of Gamescom 2021. Serrano had also revealed some previous dates of Sony events quite accurately. The State of Play event will give updates on some of the much-awaited titles, including God of War: Ragnarok, PSVR 2, and Horizon Forbidden West.
After the news broke of Horizon Forbidden West being delayed to 2022, Serrano again tweeted about the delay of the showcase. According to Serrano, the new date is September 16, 2021. The delayed showcase will majorly focus on all the ”updates on upcoming grand titles from worldwide studios and world-class development partners”.
However, looks like fans do not have to wait until September to get some juicy updates on upcoming titles. The much-awaited State of Play showcase will be officially announced later today and can take place on 19 August 2021.

More surprises are on the way for PlayStation owners
James Jarvis recently tweeted that there will be some chilling extra surprises on the showcase along with some updates on Gran Turismo and Kena’s extended look. However, nothing is confirmed yet so take every piece of news as a rumor only.
The absence of Sony from E3 loomed large over the gaming conference. In June 2020 (last year) Sony held its grand Future of Gaming showcase to officially unveiled all the PlayStation 5 upcoming titles. So, this year as well, fans waited for one grand showcase to get all the chunky updates on titles coming to PlayStation 5 as well as PlayStation 4.
Unfortunately, the July State of Play showcase wasn’t up to the mark. It didn’t give away anything exciting. They didn’t provide any big update on their upcoming titles. With no further updates from Sony, the path for Horizon Bidden and God of Ragnarok looks very foggy right now. What fans need is a brief showcase with all the updates to set the record straight.
