Isaiah Thomas has had a roller-coaster NBA career so far. He was out of contract since leaving New Orleans Pelicans in April this year. Isaiah last played for the Pelicans on a 10-day contract. He has been rumored to have worked out with Los Angeles Lakers. Lakers center Marc Gasol’s future is up in the air as well, as the Lakers look to revamp their roster for the coming season. NBA correspondent Marc Stein has given updates on Isaiah and Gasol’s future.
Marc Gasol signed a two-year contract with the Lakers in 2020. He played 52 games last season, starting 42 of them. However, Gasol averaged 5 PPG in the 2020-21 regular season, which is the lowest of his NBA career. However, his future is up in the air as there’s no clarity if he would complete his contract or leave.

Earlier this month, Isaiah Thomas dropped an 81-point haul in the Crawsover Pro-Am match. It was the first time he played since the end of his 10-day contract at the Pelicans. In fact, Isaiah got emotional after the pro-am game.

After Spain’s loss against the United States in the Olympics, Gasol said that he wants to finish the last year on his contract with the Lakers. However, according to Marc Stein, Marc Gasol is ‘not a lock to return to the Lakers’. However, there’s little or no clarity about his future. It’s uncertain if Gasol will play in the NBA or ‘ultimately finish his career in his home country like brother Pau’.
Marc Gasol recorded 5 PPG last regular season, which is significantly lower than his career average (14 PPG). With the Lakers trying to build a roster that can challenge for the NBA championship once again, it’s up to the management to decide if Gasol is in their plans or not. It’ll be interesting to see the Lakers’ final roster for the 2021-22 NBA season.
