‘I’m One of a Kind’- Paddy Pimblett Reacts to Comparisons With UFC Star Conor McGregor

Former Cage Warriors featherweight champion and new UFC recruit, Paddy Pimblett, recently talked about people comparing him to former UFC dual division champion Conor McGregor. Pimblett, who will make his UFC debut against Brazilian Luigi Vendramini on September 04, appeared for an interview with Submission radio’s Kacper Rosolowski and Dennis Shkuratov.

There are some reasons people compare him to McGregor. First, just like him, McGregor was a Cage Warriors featherweight champion, and just like McGregor, he too drew crowds. But does the comparisons bother him? He has an answer stored in for this.

“It’s not so much annoying because obviously, he is the biggest star the sport has ever seen,” ‘The Baddy’ said. “So it’s nice in one perspective, but at the same time, it’s annoying because… Conor McGregor is his own man, and I will be never like him, and he will be never like me.”

He further added, “I’m one of a kind… You will never gonna get anyone else like me.”

McGregor, who started with Cage Warriors, indeed became the biggest star in the history of MMA. Nobody draws attention and money as he does. Currently, the Irishman is recovering from the leg injury sustained during his trilogy clash against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Paddy Pimblett wants to fight Conor McGregor in Anfield

There is a history between the Irish and the Englishmen. Paddy (16-3), who hails from Liverpool, England, wants to face the Irishman McGregor in the Anfield Stadium in Liverpool.

“He’s (McGregor) a money type of guy. And fighting in Anfield in front of like 60-70,000 people is where the money’s at,” Pimblett added. “So, that’s why I could see that happening. But anyone. It doesn’t matter. Like, I’m going to be that big of a star that you could f*cking put me in there against a hobo and I’d fill it out.”

It could be an interesting fight down the line. But for now, Pimblett would be more concerned about his debut, which is scheduled to take place in two weeks.
