‘We Put on Airplane Mode’- Dustin Poirier Warns Conor McGregor if He Brings His ‘Crazy’ Version

UFC veteran and former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier will lock horns with his rival Conor McGregor at UFC 264. The epic trilogy clash will headline the event on July 10, 2021.

In their first clash in 2014, McGregor beat the ‘Diamond’ via a crushing KO. The latter returned the favor 7 years later at UFC 257 when he became the first man to beat the ‘Notorious’ one via KO/TKO.

The defeat was a huge setback for McGregor, as he wasn’t able to counter Poirier’s continuous leg kicks. Ultimately, his mobility in the second round was hindered, and Dustin went on and put him to sleep.

Compared to 2014, the fight that happened earlier saw a more friendly nature of McGregor towards Poirier. The former is known to bring out a ‘crazy’ side of him whenever he steps out to fight against an opponent.

Recently, Poirier appeared for an interview and put out a warning towards the ‘Notorious’ one. “The good thing about this one is if it’s crazy Conor, I just don’t give a f*ck,” he said.

“I really don’t care… I’m not a kid anymore. I’m a grown man and I know what matters and I know what I can’t control and you know I just don’t beat myself up nearly I used to with the critics.”

He further added he is pretty sure it’s going to be crazy Conor again.

He added, “You got knocked out last time …we put on airplane mode in front of the world.”

Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor- eliminator for the title

Poirier (27-6) sacrificed his title opportunity to face McGregor for the trilogy. It’s a known fact that what could have prompted Poirier in doing so.

However, after he beats McGregor for the second time this year, it’s a given he would be going after the title. The same goes for McGregor as well, just like Poirier, we could see him cash for the lightweight title next.

The match is certainly one of the biggest of the year. Poirier would look to extend his domination in the roster and McGregor meanwhile would be out to silence his critics.
