The ATP tour has recently got into a dispute with the management of the Mutua Madrid Open 2021. Even though some clashes often take place between different tennis governing bodies, this seems quite a big one. The Madrid Open authorities have even taken the matter to the court.
The owner of the Mutua Madrid Open 2021, Ion Tiriac, has sued the ATP Tour for allegedly breaking the schedule agreement. According to the management of the Madrid Open, they had got the exclusive right to organize their tournament in a particular week.
However, according to the management, the ATP Tour scheduled some other tournaments as well during the same window. The Masters 1000 tournament took place from April 29, 2021, to May 9, 2021.
Apart from this, the management of the Madrid Open also claimed that because of this poor scheduling by the ATP, they had to pay much more prize money to the players as compared to other Masters 1000 tournaments. As of now, the matter is pending in Delaware court.
These are definitely some serious allegations and it’ll be intriguing to see how the men’s tennis governing body responds to them in the court.

Alexander Zverev won the Masters 1000 tennis tournament this year
World No.5 Alexander Zverev led a fabulous campaign and won the Mutua Madrid Open 2021 title. Interestingly, he defeated the likes of Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, and Matteo Berrettini to win the title.
One of the most shocking matches this year was the one between Alexander Zverev and Rafael Nadal at the Madrid Open 2021. The German gave absolutely no chance to Rafa, served at more than 200 km/hr, and thus defeated the ‘King of Clay’ on clay in straight sets.
He went on and defeated the ‘Prince of Clay’, Dominic Thiem, in the semis and then defeated Berrettini in the finals despite losing the first set. Interestingly, he only lost a single set in that whole tennis tournament.
Fans still have really huge expectations from Alexander Zverev. Will he be able to win his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open 2021?
