MISERABLE! Emma Raducanu’s Fairytale Run Ends With an Injury During Battle Against Ajla Tomljanovic at Wimbledon Championships 2021

Emma Raducanu has taken everyone by storm with her performances at this year’s Wimbledon Championships. However, the 18-year old Canadian-born Brit player’s campaign came to end in the fourth round against Ajla Tomljanovich. The Australian player of Croatian origin stood tall and too powerful for the young Brit before she retired in the middle of the second set.

Emma had to leave the court in between the second set after she was having breathing issues. The match ended in an hour and seven minutes, as Ajla progressed into the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships. Ajla won 6-4, 3-0 as a result of Emma’s retirement.

Ajla Tomljanovic vs Emma Raducanu: Talking points of the game

The first set was a neck-to-neck tie between the Aussie and the Brit. Both players played with flair and a display of positivity. The long rallies between the players saw the first set involving four deuces. However, Ajla showed her strength as she forced Emma into making several unforced errors.

Ajla had Matteo Berrettini supporting her from the stands, along with Nina Ghaib, who is her cousin. The second set started with Ajla outplaying the youngster. After taking a 3-0 lead, Ajla was on her way towards an easy win. Emma started feeling breathless as she went out and sought medical support.

Ajla Tomljanovic has set up an all-Aussie quarterfinal against World No.1 Ashleigh Barty on Tuesday the 6th of July. It will be a much-awaited contest for the fans, as they were eagerly waiting for this game.
