In May 2021, Josh Taylor put on his career-best performance in the biggest fight of his life against Jose Ramirez. The duo fought for the undisputed super-lightweight championship and as expected, and both the fighters went all guns blazing against each other. However, in the end, it was the Scottish boxer who edged his fellow adversary with his stupendous skills that night.
With his high-class performance, Taylor hooked in millions of fans and boxing bigwigs. He shook everyone with his daunting approach that night, including the WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman.

“Josh Taylor is a tremendous fighter. Long associated with the WBC. He was an international champion, the silver champion then he won the world boxing super series in a great fight against Prograis and with this final unification with Ramirez.
“I was there at the fight. I was surprised Ramirez took the first rounds with power and took the fight to him. It seemed like Ramirez was going to be overpowering Taylor, and then what a turn of events and what a sensational performance,” he said.
The fight didn’t go well for Taylor in the initial rounds. But as he decoded Ramirez’s style, ‘The Tartan Tornado’ began with his assault.

With his offensive approach, Taylor knocked Ramirez down twice in the fight and turned the contest in his favor. That said, he scored one of his most gratifying career wins that night and pinned himself as one of the hotshots in the sport.

With a win over Ramirez, Taylor not only improved his professional boxing record to 18 wins. But he also claimed all the super-lightweight titles on the line.
