Having reached the pinnacle of sport and won numerous titles, world number one Novak Djokovic is in the pursuit of making this year a memorable one in tennis history by becoming the first male player to achieve golden slam in a calendar year.

The Serbian’s journey from being labeled ‘not good enough to win slams’ to dominating peers like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, has been nothing short of incredible, to say the least.

Not only on-court, the world number one has always been ahead in giving advice to youngsters and guiding them forward in their tennis careers. A lot of upcoming tennis players have mentioned their respect towards the Serb for taking time to show interest in their journeys.

After the likes of Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, there weren’t too many women’s singles players from Serbia that have made an impact on the WTA tour. However, the situation is slightly improving with upcoming talents Nina Stojanovic and Olga Danilovic making headway in several tournaments.

Stojanovic will team up with the 20-time grand slam champion at the mixed-doubles event in Tokyo Olympics. Irrespective of the result, the youngster will have a lot to learn from the vast experience of Djokovic.

Coming to Olga Danilovic, the 20-year old youngster has always seen Djokovic as her idol growing up. Despite not getting qualified to Tokyo Olympics, Danilovic is currently playing a WTA tournament in Palermo.

The young Serbian talked about her admiration towards Novak Djokovic.

He’s No. 1 for me in every part of being a tennis player. When you talk to him you think, ‘OK, now I’m going to beat everyone after talking to him.’ His energy and dedication and his passion to play and work is something that pushes you to be better”, told Olga.

When Danilovic visited Novak tennis center last year to train, Djokovic interacted with her and gave her necessary tips to be the best in the world. He was also seen in Olga’s box at this year’s Australian Open, where she qualified for the first time in her career.

Through Novak tennis center, it’s assured that the world number one will definitely shape the careers of numerous youngsters in Serbia.
