The highly anticipated trilogy fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor at UFC 264 had an anticlimactic end. It resulted in the ‘The Notorious’ one losing the bout via a doctor’s stoppage because of suffering a leg injury.
As a result, many believe that this inactivity during the healing process will not be good for McGregor, and Michael Bisping is amongst one of those who share this belief.
As always, McGregor started as the aggressor in his trilogy fight against Poirier. However, it didn’t last long as the ‘Diamond’ turned the tide by a brutal ground-and-pound.
Then in the last few seconds of the first round, McGregor suffered a leg injury causing him to fall on the canvas and not being able to continue the fight further.

As a result, McGregor had to go under surgery. Now, the ‘Notorious’ has a titanium rod going down from the knee to his ankle. Due to it, he will have to stay put for a 100% recovery. Hence, he will be inactive for a long period.
Recently, the former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, shared his thoughts on this situation. Bisping said, “The problem a lot of people saying, I don’t know if it is true.
“But it sounds reasonable, and I can see, as history has shown is this inactivity isn’t good for a fighter. And certainly when you are leaving a lavish lifestyle and enjoying yourself in between fights. Inactivity is terrible for you, you know.”
“I think it’s fair to say, you know. That wasn’t the Conor McGregor from 2014, far from it, you know. Taking the year out now, nine months, twelve months, whatever. It’s not gonna be good for him.”
Michael Bisping doesn’t want Conor McGregor to return inside the octagon
McGregor was ranked as the world’s highest-paid athlete by Forbes in 2021. The reason for it is that ‘Mystic Mac’ has headlined several highest-grossing pay-per-views in combat sports. As a result, the ‘Notorious’ has cashed in several huge checks in his career.
So, Bisping ended on a note saying, “He has got a lots of money. Go and enjoy yourself. F*ck it, you have all the cash in the world, go and enjoy it”.
McGregor has accomplished several achievements in his career. The Irish Man has set multiple records inside as well as outside the UFC octagon. Even if he retires now, McGregor’s career will still stand out from every UFC fighter to this day.
