Cowboys coach Todd Payten admits he's feeling "frustrated" after North Queensland suffered their fourth straight defeat at the hands of South Sydney.
Despite scoring the opening two tries of the match, North Queensland were last night blown off the park by South Sydney, who responded with eight consecutive tries to run away with a 46-18 defeat in Newcastle.
A win would've moved North Queensland level on points with eighth on the NRL ladder, although they would still be sitting outside the playoff positions on differential.
"Yeah I'm very frustrated," Payten told reporters after the match.
"There are different parts to that frustration. It seems to be the same people consistently over 15 to 16 rounds.
"We don't reconnect and get together as a team. We sort of just disintegrate and don't talk and yeah it's not good enough.
"We're an immature team at the moment. Just not willing to pay the price in the tough parts of the game for long enough."
Payten conceded the current playing group is lacking leadership out on the field.
"It would help with some more experience absolutely," Payten added.
"We have got a few older guys and they are talking and leading. I thought Jason Taumalolo and Macca were pretty strong today.
"But they need some assistance by some key players around them and some more experienced guys."
