There were a lot of surprises in store for fans during the recently concluded 2021 NFL Draft. Teams across the league kept their draft plans well under wraps as they looked to strengthen their respective rosters ahead of the upcoming season.
But Matt Nagy and the Chicago Bears unleashed a major surprise in the 1st round as they traded up from 20 to 11 in order to draft promising quarterback Justin Fields. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star was on the radar of quite a few teams including the Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and even the New Orleans Saints.

Reputed NFL Network reporter Marc Sessler appeared in a recent interview. He explained what it meant to see the Chicago Bears draft Justin Fields and how it will affect their performance in the upcoming season.
“Who’s changed your feelings? For me? It’s the bears. You know, I feel like the Bears, they have not had an exciting quarterback almost in my lifetime and they resemble a spacecraft floating through the cosmos with no sign of life on board for so long. How many afternoons did I fall asleep on my couch watching the Bears’ offense on Gamepass? All of that has changed.”
“You know, they swung for Russell Wilson and that made me think you know what they’re willing to be daring this time around Ryan Pace that didn’t work but they got Justin Fields and for me, like you said Dan, mystical powers.”
“Energy is changing, the Bears to me now are watchable. I can’t wait to see what they look like. And you don’t have to sell us on Andy Dalton for the next four months. This is a game-changer, the Chicago Bears are interesting,” Sessler said on the NFL Network.
Coach Nagy and the Bears gained massive flak after signing Andy Dalton to a 1-year deal worth $10 million. Fans thought that Chicago would have to choose between Dalton and Nick Foles as potential starters this year. But the arrival of Fields changes everything.
The 2019 Heisman Trophy finalist has thrown for 5,700+ passing yards with 67+ passing TDs during his college football career with Georgia and OSU. But only time will tell if he can replicate the same displays with the Bears. Watch this space for more.
