Seth “Scump” Abner, being one of the best Call of Duty players ever, exerts a lot of influence on the community. Back in the day, Scump was one of the biggest Call of Duty content creators and pros around, and so certainly knows the game to its core. He is currently a professional player for NRG esports‘ Chicago Huntsmen in the Call of Duty League. He also won the Call of Duty World Championship in 2017 while he was a part of Optic Gaming.
In a recent podcast on the 100 Thieves YouTube channel, Scump talked about his future plans with CoD and the new Call of Duty Cold War.

Scump will be leaving competitive Call of Duty soon
It is no surprise that age is a big factor in competitive eSports. After a certain age, players tend to lose their quick reflexes, hand movement, hand-eye coordination, and most importantly, their interest in competing.
Scump himself realizes this, however, he has no fixed time in his mind for retirement. The pro gamer admitted,“It is winding down for sure…I don’t have..like a fixed time.”
Scump absolutely loves competing and is sure he will miss ‘the hell out of it’ once he retires. From building bonds with teammates, and practicing daily, Scump will miss the routine. Interestingly, he made it clear that money isn’t everything to him because people often advise him to take the easier road.
With a huge fan base, Scump can easily earn a lot more if he shifts to full-time streaming. However, he plans to play for at least a year or two more, just to get that final experience because he knows he will miss it badly.
Scump’s thoughts on Black Ops Cold War
The current installment in the franchise, Modern Warfare, is not one of the pro’s favorites. He has been very vocal about it and has an interesting one on the latest CoD Cold War too. Scump likes Cold War’s game mechanics and feels that the gameplay is very decent for an alpha.
The only issue for the pro is SBMM i.e. skill based matchmaking in the game. Like many others, he wants a ranked mode in the game and also went on a “freaking rampage” with that.
As for now, he is still one of the best players out there and fortunately, fans will see him clutching the games in the league for a year or so.
