The WWE Universe is blessed with an excessive amount of talent. Fans have witnessed several pro-wrestlers rise to the top, and one of them is The Rock. However, while his rise to the top was interesting to watch, he had to fight his fair of battles, both in-ring and backstage.
Bret Hart appeared on The 81 Podcast and spoke in depth about the time when Triple H and Shawn Michaels wanted to ruin The Rock.
According to The Hitman, both of them wanted to ruin anybody connected to him. Therefore, when ‘The Brahma Bull’ came around, The Game and The Heartbreak Kid tried to seize the opportunity and ruin him.
“Triple H and maybe even Shawn [Michaels], back then were pretty ruthless. You know, if someone was tied to me or connected to me, they would try to ruin them. Even Rock, Dwayne Johnson. They really tried to crack him and bust his chops while I was there. I remember telling Dwayne all the time, ‘Don’t listen to these guys. You’re a really good talent and you don’t need these guys.’”
It came to a point where Triple H tried to coax Bret Hart into winning the Intercontinental Title, however, he refused and let The Rock push his career forward.
“I wrestled The Rock and they wanted me to beat him in the ring. Triple H did. He wanted me to beat Dwayne Johnson and win the Intercontinental Title. I refused. ‘What do I need the Intercontinental Title for?’… I remember Triple H was sick about it because he had a thing for Dwayne and wanted to ruin him. He hated him.”
Even though HHH and Michaels tried to stop him, Rock reached heights within the company. To this day, he is considered one of the best Superstars to have walked the ring.

It is unlikely he will return to WWE soon. If he does, it’ll mean he will have to pause his Hollywood career for sometime and he wouldn’t opt for that. However, he might make an appearance or two before WrestleMania goes Hollywood considering he is one of the biggest stars of Hollywood!
