Russell Wilson Could Break this Unique Record held by Tom Brady

Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks got off to a flying start in September as they started the season with a five-game winning streak. Russell Wilson barged his way into the NFL MVP conversation early on along with Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen. But their form dipped midway through the season after falling to two consecutive losses (Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams). But the Seahawks recovered from that point and ended their regular season with four wins on the trot.

The Seahawks won the NFC West with a 12-4 record this season. They play the Rams on Sunday in the NFL Wild Card Round Playoffs. But special attention will be given to veteran QB Russell Wilson who can eclipse six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady for a rather unique record.

As per recent polls, Rusell Wilson remains third in the NFL MVP race behind Rodgers and Super Bowl LIV MVP Patrick Mahomes. He has thrown for 4,200+ yards with 40 passing TDs against just 13 interceptions this season. But he can overtake the great Tom Brady for the aforementioned playoff passing yards stat.

At present, Russell Wilson is second in the most passing yards in his first 9 seasons in the league for an NFL quarterback in the Super Bowl era above Brett Favre and Peyton Manning. Wilson needs to throw for 343+ passing yards in this year’s NFL Playoffs to overtake Brady. This will certainly boost his shot at winning his first NFL MVP trophy.

At 32, Russell has truly come to the fore over the last 4 months. The veteran quarterback is now a full-fledged leader in the Seahawks locker room. He also has the complete trust of coach Pete Carroll. Wilson’s camaraderie with wide receivers, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, is evident on and off the football field. All that’s left is to win that elusive Lombardi.
