WATCH: Three Wrecks in the First 12 Laps to Kick-off NASCAR Cup Series Playoff Race at Talladega

The NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway saw a wreck moments after the green flag. While wrecks were expected, they were not expected as early as were witnessed on Sunday. The first 12 laps itself saw three cautions coming out in the second race of the second round of the playoffs.

A few seconds after the first lap began, Christopher Bell went around and collected Tyler Reddick in the process. The No. 95 driver had a flat left rear tire which forced him to spin and he crashed into Reddick, damaging his car as well.

The others involved in the wreck were Ty Dillon and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Bell was forced to go off and get his car checked. It turned out there was no way he could make a comeback and his day ended on Lap 1 itself. It was later reported that he broke a driveshaft.

Another wreck in no time in NASCAR Cup Series race

Things were about to get worse for Stenhouse Jr. On Lap 9, the No. 47 car driver went for a spin and into the inside wall, bringing out the second caution in no time. Stenhouse Jr. got a push from behind from John Hunter Nemechek.

He seemed to push him on the right rear quarter panel, which caused an aerodynamic issue for Stenhouse Jr., sending his car wild.

Stenhouse already had some damage from the earlier wreck. His car was damaged after the second incident and another was done for the day within moments at Talladega.

Another wreck followed as Corey LaJoie stalled out on the track. He required help to get to his garage. However, he soon returned to the race.

Denny Hamlin led the race for most of the early part of the race. Joey Logano led briefly as well.

The mandatory competition caution came out soon after. This gave the drivers a chance to take some fuel and make it to the end of the stage.

Hamlin started the race on pole position with Las Vegas winner Kurt Busch on the front row with him.
