Lucas Pouille and Amelie Mauresmo Announce Unfortunate News Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

After almost two years of joining hands, Lucas Pouille has announced that he’s ending his collaboration with Amelie Mauresmo. The latter had joined Poullie’s coaching team in December 2018, but their relationship has now come to an end.

I am very happy to start my new collaboration,” Pouille said back in 2018. “I think her experience as a player and coach will help me achieve my goals.

But as reported by ‘The Team,’ Mauresmo has stepped down from the role due to family issues. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused havoc, and the mother of two is not finding it easy to travel without family due to the imposed guidelines. Co-trainer Loic Courteau is however staying as a part of the unit.

Amelie Mauresmo still stands as an inspiration for female coaches, depicting that they’re equally talented when it comes to coaching male tennis players. She has previously coached three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray as well.

Pouille is yet to play an ATP game since tennis activities resumed amid the pandemic. The 26-year-old last played at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in June, where he lost to Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.

When is Lucas Pouille returning to the ATP tour?

But Lucas Pouille is not yet ready to play on the ATP tour. The Frenchman has skipped all the events that have taken place till now. However, Pouille does intend to come back to competitive tennis, but not as soon as the Rolex Paris Masters, which is scheduled for November 2.

The Australian Open is the tournament Lucas Pouille is eyeing to make a proper comeback. He achieved his career-best Grand Slam finish at Melbourne, when he reached the semi-final in 2019.
