The Grand Slam performance of Alexander Zverev has been eye-catching this season. The German youngster displayed stellar performance in two out of three Grand Slams. The US Open 2020 runner up has shown his capabilities time and again. With David Ferrer on board his team, he’s been improving steadily over time.
This year’s Grand Slam run is over with the conclusion of the French Open 2020. The calendar year started off with the Australian Open. Soon after it’s successful execution, action had to be stalled due to the Coronavirus scare. The Wimbledon championship got called off while the French Open 2020 and US Open 2020 were delayed.
The Grand Slams will be returning with the Australian Open 2021. However, there is a difference this time. Every Grand Slam which followed the pandemic was conducted within specific rules and regulations. It is mandatory for players and sporting staffs to maintain a quarantine period before they come into the courts.
Australian Open usually commences in the second half of January. Therefore it will require players to reach the venue by December end. Needless to state the schedule will be longer than usual.
Zverev stated that he hasn’t confirmed with Ferrer regarding whether he’ll be traveling with him. Ferrer is a family man and staying for so long will be challenging for him.
“For Australia, we have to see as we have to travel there in mid December this time due to Quarantine, etc. That’s obviously a long time and David has a family of course. We will talk and decide that later“, he stated.
