2K Releases Much Needed NBA 2K21 Patch Solving Critical Issues and Bugs

NBA 2K21 has released with its fair share of issues. No game is immune from game-day launch bugs and obviously a 2K game wasn’t going to be perfect. The game has already faced a hailstorm of issues, however, gameplay isn’t one that has been seriously plagued. Granted that it is because most of it is the exact same from 2K21, but issues can carry over regardless.

The biggest issue was the one thing that 2K actually added to the gameplay. The shot meter was radically changed to be a mixture of timing and aiming, to create a larger skill-gap between the players. However, all it did was create a bunch of angry fans wanting the simpler shot from 2K20 to return.

2K has addressed this issue in the new update by adding a hotfix. This allows players to have the old shot meter at rookie, pro, and all-star difficulty in single player. Multiplayer modes will continue with the new shot-meter, one that a lot of avid players are already getting used to.

2K has not revealed much of what has changed with this patch outside the shooting hotfix. They have listed generic ‘stability and experience fixes’ for the patch notes. In terms of the changes the players have felt, there aren’t many. Larger issues still seem to plague the game, including VC purchasing and server issues.

2K’s servers have been widely criticized for being very slow since the launch of the game. Obviously it is because a bunch of new players started playing the game, but the developers’ team should have anticipated the server load and created the necessary framework required to hold this traffic. This has also translated into VC purchasing issues for many. Stores are deducting money for VC on each console, but for many, it doesn’t reflect in the game.

While the shooting hotfix is nice for people learning the game, it doesn’t impact a majority of the community. With no details on what the stability fixes were, we cannot even build a picture of the changes. All we know is that the servers are still heavy and that fans are still waiting for their VC. At least playing on rookie difficulty is easier again.
