“They’re Gonna Bury Him”: Brooklyn Nets Guard Raises Huge Concerns on Kawhi Leonard And His NBA Legacy

There’s this one bias that affects every sport and many individuals. It happens all the time that one or at most two players take the biggest slice of the pie of popularity. And the remaining top guns, stay hidden under the umbrella of these bigger names, throughout their playing career. Kawhi Leonard is not proof of this either.

Consider this, do we remember Hakeem Olajuwon or David Robinson as vividly as we remember Michael Jordan? No, we do not. This has happened to many players before, and it keeps happening. The Hardens and Currys will always keep getting buried when we remember the defining eras.

Kawhi Leonard and his forgotten legacy

Kawhi Leonard is just 29, but what he has accomplished on the court is just phenomenal. He is one of the most consistent players out there. He works in silence and makes a noise by his numbers and game-winning ability. But seldom do we ever give him enough credit for the hard work he puts in.

Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie recently gave an interview where he dished out his feelings on this issue. He talked business when he mentioned, “Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with Adidas and he is by far the best Basketball player of all time, if you look at high school, college, pro. Nobody cares about him, at all. LeBron, Kobe, Mike, they tell the story better than anybody else. Kawhi with New Balance, they’re gonna bury him. He’ll never gonna be in the greatest of all time conversation. You’ll never hear about it. The next person they’re breeding and they’re pushing is Giannis, the Freak 2. It’s written. This is the path that these guys are on. They just have to do their part on the court.”

He then talked about Kawhi’s deal with New Balance and claimed, “You can’t obviously discredit anything LeBron or anybody else in that situation has done. You have to have that machine behind you, making sure that you’re constantly in people’s mind. Coz if you’re not, you’re forgotten, and if you’re a robot like Kawhi is, no matter if you have probably the single greatest feat in NBA history. Coz 3 final-MVPs, three championships, 3 different teams, I mean… If LeBron does it, they find him as a GOAT, why isn’t it same with Kawhi?”

This man has really got some nerves as he put every other brand aside but Nike.

How good has The Claw been lately?

Kawhi has played like the kings of Basketball in the playoffs. He is averaging 32.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in the current NBA Playoffs 2020 season. Leonard is only getting better with the age and is not having any poor game whatsoever. He has proved LA Clippers’ decision to sign him as a great one, and chances are strong that he can win them their first-ever NBA title if things go at the same pace.

So why do we not take his name when we discuss the MVPs, or the GOATs for that matter? Why is he always left out and we end up discussing LeBron James or maybe recently, Giannis Antetokounmpo? They’re great, no doubt, but so is Kawhi Leonard, who is silently breaking records and working up the ladder.
