British world champion Sunny Edwards successfully defended his title by registering an impressive win over Thomas Essomba in the co-main event of tonight’s showdown.
Although the super-flyweight bout went the distance, Edwards outpointed his rival throughout the match. Starting from the first round, the 24-year-old looked sharp as he put on a flawless performance.
That said, Essomba caught him off guard a couple of times. However, it was not enough for the Cameroonian to snatch the title.
Sunny Edwards is still your champion, and he is still the undefeated one
Although the judges’ had to decide Edwards‘ fate, the champion made an alarming statement with his recent win. Edwards overpowered Essomba on several occasions. He landed some crisp jabs and shifted stances to curb his rival from decoding the gameplan.

Yet Essomba went to deep waters with Edwards and tried to get his own momentum going. He responded with his own action but fell short in front of the champion’s swift jabs.
After finishing their in-ring war, Edwards seemed confident even before the results were made official. The judges scored the contest 117-112, 117-111, and 116-112 in favor of Edwards.

Edwards is now 15-0 in professional boxing with the IBF super-flyweight title still around his waist.
Essomba, on the other hand, faced his sixth pro boxing defeat against Edwards. His record now stands at 10-6. The Cameroonian might require a few more wins until he gets a shot at the title again.
