Juan Martin del Potro has spent eons on the surgery table, unable to bless this world with his mercurial tennis for long periods. He underwent his second knee surgery after fracturing his knee cap. However, as he has done countless times before, Delpo is working hard to come back.
Juan Martin del Potro was playing in the 2019 Queen’s Club Championships last year when the catastrophe occurred. Del Potro won his match against Denis Shapovalov but suffered a devastating setback.
He had fractured his right knee-cap during the match, and not for the first time. He had suffered the same injury, on the same knee, at the tail-end of 2018.
A fractured knee-cap is a career-threatening injury, and last year in June, Del Potro had to face the same dark void again. He underwent surgery in Barcelona and was recovering well, but the pain persisted in his knee. Soon it became obvious he would have to have another surgery to rectify the pain.
Juan Martin Del Potro is laser-focused
The Argentine underwent surgery on his right knee earlier this year in January, in Miami this time.
Ahora sí, con el alta médica rumbo a descansar a casa.

Few have worked so hard, so many times to return to their passion than Del Potro. Before his issues with the right knee even began, he was already battling wrist injuries. In 2010, he suffered a right wrist injury. In the following years, he suffered three wrist injuries, these were on his left hand.
The knee surgery this January was his sixth major surgery, and yet, Del Potro is determined as ever to return to the courts.
The 2009 US Open champion is a big miss on the tennis Tour. His obliterating groundstrokes are a thing of wonder to behold. Let’s hope it isn’t long before the man is competing again.
