Battlefield 2042 Posts Shocking Week 1 Sales Despite Angering Several Fans

There is no denial that Battlefield 2042 had a horrendous start, not keeping up with the standards that the previous Battlefield had set. However, one startling fact about the game would be from its Week 1 figures. The game was released on November 19, 2021, and has amassed a figure topping many of the previous Battlefield games. The game is rated as one of the lowest on Steam and has a myriad of bugs and glitches, ruining the player experience in general. Let’s look at how the latest Battlefield performed in the charts after its release.

Battlefield 2042 goes up to second in terms of Week 1 sales

Tom Henderson on their Twitter page noted that Battlefield 2042 has amassed a whopping 4.23 million sales in its first week despite having a disastrous start. It falls behind Battlefield 3 which had amassed 4.68 million sales in its first week. This is followed by Battlefield 1 at 3.46 million, Battlefield 4 at 2.59 million, Battlefield Hardline at 1.48 million and both the Bad Company titles at 0.39 million and 1.39 million each.

The hype and anticipation that surrounded the game all throughout its release owe a lot to the figures accompanying this game’s sales. However, the game is rated one of the lowest on Steam and fans have been really critical about the myriad of bugs and glitches surrounding the gameplay. EA DICE has taken into note of all the negative reviews surrounding Battlefield 2042 and has appointed Vince Zampella, head of Respawn Entertainment, and DICE LA as in charge of the Battlefield series.

As reported by Kotaku, Zampella said, “We will continue to evolve and grow Battlefield 2042, and we’ll explore new kinds of experiences and business models along the way that we can add to that foundation to provide an awesome array of experiences for our players.”  He further added, “In this universe, the world is interconnected with shared characters and narrative. This universe is also built with our community as we harness the power of Portal and user-generated content that puts creativity in the hands of our players.”

Players hope that Battlefield will finally be able to provide the optimum gaming experience that they have been demanding for a while.
