Lewis Hamilton certainly brought his A-game to the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Knight was starting tenth on the grid and made his way to take the chequered flag at Interlagos.

However, there is a bit of controversy surrounding Hamilton’s race. During the cooldown lap, Hamilton is said to have loosened his belt, which is a serious breach in the rules set by the FIA.

Lewis Hamilton released his belt after taking the chequered flag

It is no surprise to see the Mercedes driver over the moon, after winning the race which sees him keep his title hopes up. During the cooldown lap, Lewis loosened his belts, this could be when he took the Brazilian flag from the marshalls present at Interlagos.

Appendix L, Chapter III Article 4 of the FIA’s ISC states, “Drivers must be properly restrained in their seat by safety belts in conformity with the technical regulations for the vehicle concerned, at all times during a competition, when it is mobile on a circuit.” 

The British driver has been fined five thousand euros, as he undid his race seat while zipping around the Brazilian circuit during the cooldown lap.

The victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix sees Hamilton pick up twenty-five points. However, Red Bull’s Verstappen still leads the title race by having a 14-point over the 7-times world champion.
