VIDEO: Marvin Vettori Gets a Hero’s Welcome Back Home After Victory Over Paulo Costa

The Italian fighter, Marvin Vettori, proved himself and his skill in his fight against Paulo Costa. Vettori simply outclassed the Brazilian fighter and bagged the win via a unanimous decision. The fight took place on the 23rd of October at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas. Costa and Vettori squared off in a five-round, light heavyweight fight. The Italian won by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the contest 48-46 in favor of Vettori.

Vettori took the fight despite the fact that his opponent, Costa, couldn’t make the weight for their bout. The fight was originally supposed to be fought at middleweight but had to be changed to light heavyweight. This is because Paulo Costa said that he wouldn’t be able to cut it to 186 lbs. Although he was heavier, Costa appeared quick in his movements and appeared to be doing well in the fight, but Vettori’s chin and his pace were too much for Costa to conquer.

Back in his hometown in Italy, the people of Mezzocorona celebrated the Italian Dream’s victory over ‘The Eraser’.

In a video shared by UFC on BT Sport, we see the people of Mezzocorona arranging tables and chairs to watch their fellow Italian battle it off in vegas. Following his win over the Brazilian, Vettori’s fight record now stands at 18 wins and 5 losses.

What’s next for Marvin Vettori after his win over Paulo Costa?

Vettori earned the respect of UFC fans by fighting Costa at a higher weight class and still performing brilliantly. Vettori took Costa’s best shots and continued to push forward. His pace, pressure, and chin paid off, and he eventually won by decision at UFC Fight Night 196.

Following his victory over Costa, it is very possible that Vettori will receive a title fight soon. The Italian Dream stands at rank 2 in the most recent UFC rankings. At UFC 271, Israel Adesanya will square off against Robert Whittaker for the middleweight belt. Vettori will most probably face the winner of this fight for the belt, as he is next in line on the rankings.
