It seems like a dream job when making a career in the NFL as a broadcaster. Although it certainly is, but the long working hours of work and the amount of time spent traveling will certainly blow the brains out of someone. However, the NFL sideline CBS reporter Melanie Collins believes that in the end “it’s all worth it.”
Recently, the NFL reporter took to Instagram for an “Ask me anything” session with her followers, who flooded her with loads of questions on her life as an NFL broadcaster and how could she maintain it so well. One of her curious followers asked about if she ever tires of all the traveling.
Melanie Collins is passionate from tip to toe
The Penn State alum replied, “It’s disturbing how many hours of my life I’ve spent sitting on planes,” on Monday to her Instagram Story. The background image of her story showed a whopping number of 1,186,478 minutes that she has spent with the Delta Air Lines.
Melanie is surely a committed and ambitious young lady who, apart from her NFL gig with CBS, also hosts on the Golf Channel. She has a very impressive resume as she has also covered college football and college basketball for CBS Sports and, on top of that; she has also worked for Yahoo Sports.
Collins in a separate Instagram story revealed how much grateful she is for having worked in the NFL, and the opportunities that she has received over the years of her persistent efforts. “It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to call this my ‘job,'” Collins posted.

Melanie has some career advice for budding journalists
Furthermore, Melanie dived even deeper when aspiring broadcasters asked her about “any tips for a journo student,” and “I would love to be a sports broadcaster, so what would be your best piece of advice?”
The NFL broadcaster said “Be open-minded about your role or title… the industry continues to change and evolve,” she said, adding, “always be the most prepared person in the room.”
“Develop a thick skin, be yourself,” she added. “Say yes to anything that will get you experience and don’t take yourself too seriously!”
She also advised all the budding and aspiring journalists to get all the experience they possibly can while being in school, by going for “Internships, on-camera classes, etc. Try to get a reel put together when you graduate!”
