Nelly Korda and Jin Young Ko are playing on their own little tour, where no one else matters. They have taken the LPGA Tour by storm and their outstanding performances have had one conclusion- both are in contention for the LPGA Player of the Year.
And if this wasn’t enough to excite fans, Korda is only 15 points behind Ko in the race to CME standings going into the penultimate event of the season- the Pelican Women’s Championship. However, both golfers have been extremely mature, despite the bulky and inevitable competition. Recently, both opened up on how they feel about it all.

Nelly Korda and Jin Young Ko reflect on their past season
“It’s definitely been a journey this year, its been a crazy one. If someone told me going into the first event of the year that I’d be a major champion, a gold medalist, and world number 1, I would tell them that they’re lying and that they’re full of it,” Korda laughed, reflecting on her superb season.
However, she talked about the other side of the coin and the exhaustion which comes with being in the spotlight. She takes relief in the break that follows the CME Group Tour Championship and said, “It’s gonna be really nice to put the clubs away for a bit.”
Only two events remain in the LPGA season for Nelly Korda to catch Jin Young Ko in the Race to the CME Globe standings. Moreover, expressing her thoughts on the new season, she said, “There’s titles you have to defend and there’s expectations and there’s so much that’s going on that you just wanna get in the zone and not think about what’s already past and focus on what you can do to help the future.”
Ko, on the other hand, has won four titles on the tour this year and is currently ranked second on the Rolex rankings list. However, when asked what she didn’t achieve in this past year, she had a lot to say. She said, “More major championships. Like U.S. open, KPMG Championship and British Open, and Grand Slam. Then I’m done!”

While both have a different outlook on things, one thing is clear; they’re unstoppable. Young is desperate for more and Korda is relaxed, certain that a good break will set her up for the new season. However, who do you think will bag the trophy this year?
