Ian Poulter’s Son Luke is Set to Follow in His Father’s Footsteps; Signs Up for College Golf Program

Sometimes, children follow in their parents’ footsteps, trying to make a career in the same field. This time, it is Ian Poulter’s son, Luke Poulter, who is off to college, all set to make his father proud. Golf fans have seen Luke grow over the years, right since he was a baby in 2004.

Now, as a 17-year-old, Luke has signed up with a golf program. It goes without saying that the European Tour star is a proud father of his second-oldest child. In fact, Poulter proudly shared the news on Twitter as well.

What program has Ian Poulter’s son signed up for?

According to Poulter’s tweet, Luke has signed with the University of Florida on Thursday. Not many bigger days in your life than signing for, @GatorsGolf,” Poulter wrote. Proud to see Luke work so hard & be offered a position to join such a great team.”

He also mentioned JC Deacon, who is the Florida Gators’ head coach. “I know you’ll guide him along the next part of his journey,” Poulter added. The Poulter family lives in Florida, and Luke committing to the University of Florida will also keep him closer to home.

A couple of months earlier, Poulter had also announced Luke verbally committing to the team. “An extremely proud moment in the journey of Luke. We can officially announce he has verbally committed to @GatorsGolf University of Florida. Go Gators,” Poulter wrote.

Is Luke Poulter a good golf player?

Luke, who is reportedly ranked 133rd on the Rolex American Junior Golf Association rankings, has caddied for his father back in May at the Wells Fargo Championship. Additionally, he made the news for playing with his dislocated knee at the Dye Junior Invitational. “I just wanted to finish the round,” Luke said when asked about his first round.

He also opened with a four-under-par at the Westrock Coffee Junior Championship, finishing sixth.

Luke’s father has made a name for himself with his professional career spanning over a decade. Poulter has also won 12 European Tour events and is known as a Ryder Cup legend, having won five with Team Europe. However, can his son replicate the same?
