Davis Love III Speaks About Tiger Woods’ Possible Involvement in 2022 Presidents Cup

Undoubtedly, Tiger Woods is the most popular and the greatest golfer of all time. Hence, his mere presence on the course makes the environment charismatic. However, having stayed away from the course for a while now, Tiger is currently recovering from a horrifying solo car crash that occurred in February 2021. Since then, he hasn’t competed on the PGA Tour or any other event.

Although, even while rehabilitating at home, he has been an integral part of the golfing world. Tiger was an unofficial advisor to Team USA for the Ryder Cup. Hence, Davis Love III, the captain of Team USA for the 2022 Presidents Cup, hopes for a lot more involvement from Tiger in the biennial event.

Tiger Woods was the captain of the 2019 Presidents Cup, where Team USA had an incredible win with a score of 16-14 at Melbourne in Australia. Moreover, Tiger had turned down the captaincy role to focus on his golf game. However, the horrific car accident in February has changed the dynamics.

Recently, reports state that Tiger has made tremendous progress as he was also snapped walking without any crutches for the first since the accident. However, there was a slight limp visible in his walk still. Hence, everyone is expecting this to be the comeback season for Tiger on the PGA Tour, including Davis himself.

Talking about Tiger’s role in the team, he said, “So, his role is whatever his role wants to be. If Tiger calls me up and says, ‘Hey, you’re kicked out. I’m taking over.’ That’s Tiger’s role,” said Davis. “I would hope that he comes back and starts playing and can make that a goal to be on the team. He was a big part of our Ryder Cup.”

It is still unclear whether or not Tiger will play competitive golf once again. However, given his history of comebacks, counting him out already would be a huge mistake. As for business, the 2022 Presidents Cup is all set to begin in September 2022 at Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina.
