Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant, the IBF super-middleweight champion of the world, and the pride of Nashville, Tennessee has faced a lot of trials and tribulations in and out of the ring on his way to the top. Ahead of his historic fight against the pound for pound king, Canelo Alvarez, let’s take a look at his boxing journey.
Plant grew up in a small town in Tennessee and was born into poverty. He started boxing at the age of 9, and a successful amateur boxing career helped him escape the clutches of his impoverished background. He went on to become a reserve for the 2012 Olympic US American boxing team, after which he turned pro.
Is Caleb Plant undefeated?
The 6 foot 1-inch orthodox boxer boasts of an impressive unbeaten record. In 21 professional fights, Plant has not lost even once. Plant is not a knockout artist. Although he does possess the power to knock his opponents out with one punch, Plant uses his superior boxing IQ and movement to systematically dismantle his opponents.
How many matches did he win?
Plant turned pro in 2014, after a pretty successful amateur career. Since then he has fought 21 times and has won all 21 of his fights. Despite winning all his fights inside the ring, Plant has suffered some devastating losses outside of it. The American lost his daughter before he became IBF champion. Soon after he became champion, he lost his mother.

He fought Jose Uzcategui back in 2019 for the IBF title. After dethroning the champion, he went on to defend his title three times against quality opposition like Caleb Truax and Vincent Feigenbutz.
However, as an amateur, Plant lost quite a number of times when he was learning the ropes. His amateur career consists of 97 wins and 20 losses. He won a couple of State Championships in Tennessee as an amateur, under the tutelage of his father.
Caleb Plant is looking to make history
Plant will look to make history on November 6 when he faces Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. After months of back and forth, the pair enter the ring with a chance to make history. On November 6, only one of them will enter the history books as the first-ever ‘undisputed’ super-middleweight champion.
