Budding Bromance! Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel Share a Cheeky Moment After Q3 Finish in Qatar

There has been yet another breach of parc ferme regulations as Fernando Alonso hits the rear of Sebastian Vettel! The two champions had a massive day in Qatar, having made it to Q2. This called for a pat on the back…err a little lower.

After years of competing against each other, Alonso and Vettel have once again found themselves in the top 10 of the starting grid for the Qatar GP. Clearly, the challenges of a new track are nothing. As Sebastian Vettel got out of his car, Fernando Alonso gave him a little spank of approval as the two walked away from their parked cars happily.

The two are currently in a battle of their own; fighting for the new trophy of most overtakes in the season. Alonso currently leads by two passes, sitting on a score of 114. Looks like the pressures of the competition haven’t gotten to the two!

Fernando Alonso & Sebastian Vettel reflect on an eventful Saturday

Seb and Nando were as jolly as ever after the qualifying session on Saturday. Alonso will start Sunday’s race in P5, while Sebastian Vettel is further down in P10.

The German shared his thoughts on the session, counting all the reasons it was a good day for the team. “I think we are feeling a bit more competitive this weekend and I had a good day overall. We managed to beat a Ferrari, a McLaren and even a Red Bull in Q2 so I think we can be happy.”

However, Vettel is wary of the overtaking opportunities the track provides. “Overtaking here is difficult but not impossible and it will be a new experience for all of us.”

The Spaniard shared his love for the track as well. “As I said yesterday, it’s wonderful to drive, I really enjoy it. I could be running all night long probably.” His best qualifying result of the year, the double champion looks forward to the race ahead of him. ”I think it’s my best qualifying for the year, probably for the last eight or nine years. So, happy with this.”

Happy and ready for a good night’s sleep, the two drivers have an important battle for points awaiting them on Sunday. Visors down and elbows out, we hope to see the Alpine and Aston Martin in the top half of the field.
