What is the Zozo Championship, and when was it introduced?
The Zozo Championship was Japan’s first official PGA Tour event, and its first edition was played in 2019. Tiger Woods took the first-ever title to his name by securing a three-stroke victory over local favorite Hideki Matsuyama.
This victory led him towards creating history and he tied with Sam Snead for the most PGA Tour titles, 82.
However, they played the 2020 edition at Sherwood Country Club in California due to the covid-19 pandemic restrictions. American Patrick Cantlay won with a single-stroke lead over Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas.
ACCORDIA Golf Narashino Country Club will host this year’s edition of the championship. The playing field will comprise 78 players and a purse worth US$9.95m will be at stake.
