JR Smith, the two-time NBA Champion, is all set to make his college golf debut. Meanwhile, Smith got hooked on golf after swinging a club at a charity event. And since then, he has been an ardent follower and player of this game. Moreover, JR Smith has played in the NBA for around 16 years.
He will now be competing in college golf for the North Carolina A&T. Smith will tee off on October 11 at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University. Moreover, recently he even revealed his favorite golfer on the Tour. So let us see who exactly is it.
JR Smith reveals his favorite golfer on the PGA Tour
JR Smith, in the Off Course with Claude Harmon, revealed the name of his favorite golfer. “Tiger (Woods) obviously, just for what he means to the game,” Smith said. “JT (Justin Thomas). I love Brooks’ (Koepka) attitude towards the game. I love the charisma DJ (Dustin Johnson) has. When he hits a bad shot, he’s like, I don’t worry about it, I’ll make up for it next hole.”
Even though he mentioned quite a few names, his emphasis was on DJ. And the host Harmon compared Dustin’s mentality to that of a shooter in basketball: If I miss a shot, give me the ball back because I want to shoot again. And Smith instantly agreed to it.

However, Smith continued further and explained the reason for his love towards DJ. “Not only that, but when you do get the ball, you’re not going to try and guide the ball in,” Smith said.
“You’re gonna shoot it. I think when people miss the fairway left or right, they get so tensed up and try to compartmentalize their issues in their swing instead of just swinging the club.”
Moreover, the 36-year-old has been a part of quite a few events and has some experience of playing against and with some of the best players in the world. Hence, this is why the former NBA Champ loves Dustin Johnson among all and wants to follow the same mentality during his college golf events.
