After spending two years with the Boston Celtics, Kemba Walker will be taking his talents to the New York Knicks. To the Bronx-born NBA star, being a Knick and playing at Madison Square Garden is more special than many would’ve guessed. Walker played at MSG as a part of the team during their pre-season game against the Indiana Pacers.
Of course, Walker was a little emotional about the situation. For the 31-year-old, the experience was surreal. Let’s take a look at what exactly Walker had to say about the game.
Kemba Walker cannot believe he will be playing at MSG as a Knicks player
Walker, who grew up as a Knicks fan, started his career with the Charlotte Bobcats (now Hornets). For the last two seasons, he has been with the Celtics, playing alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown at the TD Garden. Now, as the 2021-22 season approaches, Walker has found himself with his home team.

Naturally, playing at MSG has been a dream for Walker. “It’s actually kinda surreal, you know? Not everybody gets a chance to play professionally in their home city,” he said.
Walker added that he felt goosebumps on his body, the feeling he experienced completely indescribable. “It’s crazy. Growing up a Knicks fan, it’s kinda surreal to know that I’m going to play at MSG every single night”.
Walker played for 21 minutes versus the Pacers. He scored 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Meanwhile, Julius Randle scored a team-high 20 points. Knicks beat the Pacers 125-104.
As preseason games are meant for players to warm up and practice before the regular season. It also gives the opportunity to new players to familiarize themselves with the team.
“It’s different. I can’t even lie to you,” Walker said while speaking of playing as a Knick. For Walker, his Knicks sweatsuit is special. The point guard added that wants to become a role model to young kids who want to take up the sport.
That being said, the next Celtics game is with the Washington Wizards on October 10 IST.
